After a career as a senior nurse within the NHS, I retrained as a counsellor and psychotherapist at the Bath Centre for Psychotherapy & Counselling (BCPC). I have been fully qualified as a counsellor since 2002, graduating with a Master’s degree in psychotherapy from the University of Middlesex in 2012. I am registered with UKCP.
Based in South Gloucestershire, I have a private consulting room in Hambrook, and have also worked for over twenty years at the Frome Valley Medical Centre in Frampton Cotterell.
People approach me with a range of emotional and personal difficulties – anxiety, depression, phobias, relationship problems, stress and so on.
The jargon for what I do is “humanistic integrative” therapy, which includes a blend of humanistic and psychodynamic therapy and CBT. In plain English this means my approach is flexible in order to help each client in a unique way. I try to help each person find the right kind of therapy for them.
Among other experience relevant to my current work, I am an accredited alcohol and drug counsellor (having been trained by and worked for ACAD). I have also had training in working with clients who have transgender issues.
I work within the ethical framework of BCPC. BCPC is accredited by the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) and the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP).
I am also a BUPA-recognised psychotherapist.
